Physician-Scientist Training Pathway
Newly graduated physicians entering all disciplines of internal medicine have a fabulous opportunity to bring science to medicine at a level of sophistication that is truly unprecedented. The UC San Diego Department of Medicine offers a Physician-Scientist Training Pathway that provides an unparalleled experience designed to train physicians to be bilingual, to speak the languages of clinical medicine and basic science.
Our trainees bring clinical observations to the laboratory for in-depth study and translate basic mechanisms of human pathology into improvements in the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
